RED – the color of passion

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

The emotionally intense color red in North America positively evokes thoughts of joy, celebration, passion, lust, love and romance.  This color can fight with itself between representing rage and anger to willpower and courage.  It is North America’s second favorite color- the first being blue.  It can stimulate the appetite which is why many restaurant designers include red elements in their designs.  Red is the color most easily recognized by the human eye making it great for signage or standing out in a crowd.  When it comes to color theory in Interior Design and decorating red is your number one knock out!

Below I am showing the seductive and romantic side of red that added in small touches can make any space have a passionate vibrance.

Taiping Custom Carpets

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Alright, I seem to be on a roll with my carpet and rug blogs so I really cannot forget to show you my all time favorite carpet and rug company. Taiping Carpets is ideal for any high end area where the floors are to be high profile. Their product is most used in boutique hospitality and casino applications due to its nature. I could also see it in restaurants, high end residential, yachts and maybe even private jet liners. As always I am most captivated by a company who can carve a carpet like is a sculpture or 3D canvas. Taiping Carpets seams color theory effortlessly with form, proporation, pattern and play of light.

Floors from Heaven at floortoheaven.com

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

I have always been rather fussy when it comes to carpet. Most are too rough, too flat, too dirty, too shag. Rarely do I spot a carpet than makes me want to fall to my knees and pet it. Floor To Heaven is the creation of  Michaela Schleypen a German Interior Designer with heavy tactile ability. She knew from the get go with her international education that carpets would be her canvas. Hand sculptued these works of art portray the true meaning of luxury and three dimensions. Both innovative and haute couture these carpets can stand the test of time and any critics eye. Check out more of Michaela’s art at www.floortoheaven.com
