Trump International Hotel Las Vegas

Trump International Hotel Las Vegas

I just got back from my second ever trip to Las Vegas and had the pleasure at staying at the five star Trump Hotel. One of the newest Towers on the Iconic las Vegas Strip the glistening gold Trump International Hotel opened March 31, 2008. This is the newest design from the strips Architectural creators Bergman Walls and Associates who are considered the the grandfathers of Vegas and the Mega-resort who can be credited for the design of Caesars Palace, The Mirage, Paris Las Vegas, Treasure Island and the Golden Nugget. This new condo-hotel is located on Fashion show drive right next to the Wynn Las Vegas and hosts 1282 suites and 50 penthouses. It boasts many ego boosting features such as its tallest tower in Vegas status at 64 stories, 24 Carat gold windows, Breccia Onnicata Italian marble bathrooms, a breathtaking lobby, award winning spa and stunning overall interiors!

The Interior Designers on this gem are Design 360 Unlimited out of Santa Monica California who specialize in hotels and resorts such as Fairmont, Hyatt, Loews, Raffles and Marriott, and did the Trump on Columbus Circle in New York city. The Lobby features a stunning colonnade of floor to ceiling crystal chandeliers making the ceiling look like it is being held up in style. The chandeliers echo over the main reception along with beautiful marble, lighting and drapery details. This lobby unlike most in Vegas is classy and not theatrical making it an appropriate design for New York, Montreal or international rather than just the adult Disney Land that most on the strip tend to be. I particularly love that this hotel does not have a casino in or attached to it. After a day of wandering the strip its wonderful to come back to a smoke and gambling free space with a lot more serenity and class.

When we arrived our suite was upgraded so we could be high up on the 50th floor with a stunning view directly on to the strip. I loved the in suite kitchenette with stainless steel appliances, large scale bathroom with jetted tub, Kohler sink and faucet and in mirror 14″ TV so you could keep up to date with the news while you brush your teeth!!!

I loved that I was steps away from Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue as well as the beautiful Wynn Hotel and Casino. I finally got to hold my favorite “Boxer Calf” handbag in the world at Saks from Reed Krakoff. It was also a 10 minute drive north to the Outlet mall for great finds at more down to earth prices. I managed to buy 4 pairs of Nine West shoes and a pair of Kate Spade sandals.

The Spa at Trump Hotel

The Spa at Trump

The very last day I enjoyed at “The Spa at Trump” for a 60 minute massage by the very gifted therapist Takeisha. The spa is heavenly and has some wonderful design details. I also loved the custom sugar scrubs and oils for the sauna, many varieties of cold tea and the rain shower. If you are in need of a good bathrobe Trump sells the best bathrobes from the hotel- super warm and lined with luxury. Such a great pampering and relaxing experience before my flight home.

Luxury hotels, resorts and spas  can be a great inspiration for residential projects. They often have defining features to attract visitors, rich layers of texture and color and a wealth of new ideas. I love to tour hotels in each city I visit to inspire my creativity and understand different solutions to design problems. Staying in hotel rooms when you travel is a great way to test out mattresses, bathtub and shower faucets, towels, layout, lighting levels and general feelings that a room can give you. The more traveled you are I believe the better you understand what you really appreciate and love about a bedroom. Below are some of MANY inspiring hotel rooms that inspire all of my senses and create different moods in my mind. Enjoy!

Pelham Hotel London

Pelham Hotel London

The Pelham Hotel in London is unique in that each room is individually designed with antique furnishings, its own color palette, bold fabrics and padded headboards. When you look at any Pelham room however they all look to be in the same series and concept but each with its own personality. This is a great approach for any home. Make each room have a different color palette but keep the overall theme similar- same headboard shape, always have a footstool at the end of the bed, always use at least 2 bold fabrics etc.

The Setai is a dramatic landmark in South Beach Miami. The Art Deco building has been refurbished and Asian accents have been added to provide a rich historical and thematic feel to the hotel through the lobby and suites. All of the details feel architecturally melded into the design which provides a sense of timelessness. The craftsmanship is exquisite!
