As you all know this year was my first time attending the International Furniture Fair and Euroluce in Milan. For the 50th edition of the show I got to be wowed by the best the design world has to offer. I have so much to share of my trip and will post as much as I can in the next few weeks.
Here are some of my quick and dirty highlights of the show:
How much do you love how perfectly structured and simplistic this fixture is? I can think of a thousand places I would love to see it both residentially and commercially.
Color is back in a big way… great mixes of bright and florescent vs pastels and neutrals with plenty of grey backdrops. I saw this as a theme through the whole show. Everything is very lighthearted, comic book inspired and rejuvenating.
As part of this years Salone Satellite the theme was “50+50 Projects – Designing the future” top 50 projects for the next 50 years included this jawdropping brilliant and simple idea of creating a megaphone for the ipod and iphone… best news ever is that it works! no more searching for ugly speakers and adding one more plug to your overextended power cord!
Italamp had a cute and diverse group of fixtures at this years show. Can you imagine these lamps in a cupcake shop or children’s nursery?!
The biggest hit of Euroluce 2011? FLOS by far… this was a packed showroom with designs from some of todays top designers including appearances by all of our favorite design celebrities.
Photos don’t do this beautiful fixture justice. The tops can be open or closed based on what kind of lighting you are looking for.
These fixtures from Marchetti are stunning. They fill all my boxes: sparkle, gold, glass, unique shape, reflective…. need I say more?
See what I mean again with the neutral background and pops of pastel or bold colors?! Very well executed!
How cute of a wall detail is this? acoustics, time and decor all in one. Beautiful retro touch.
This fixture took my mind straight to the Emirates. The patterns this fixture projects through a space are captivating.
Roche Bobois had a beautiful and simple booth with some great pieces. Once again with a theme of cartoon looking neutral and bold color combinations.
Neutral and colorless but rich with detail. This is my kind of bedroom!
VG NewTrend- always bold and over the top with classy detailing forms and shapes. This booth was like walking into wonderland and was certainly a crown pleaser!
