Purple Color Scheme

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Purple and Violet colours of femininity, strength and power.

Purple induces sleep and relaxation, lowers body temperature and decreases sensitivity to pain. It symbolizes dignity, royalty and ritual. Its best use is in areas of rest, relaxation and meditation like a spa, yoga studio or bedroom.

Violet can sooth serious mental conditions, over-excitement and over-stimulation restoring peace and calm and inducing deep relaxed sleep. Violet symbolizes humility, creativity, imagination and spiritual enlightenment.  This color is best in areas of quiet thoughtful activity like a craft studio or reading space.

Yellow – Pure Vibrance Home Decor

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Yellow is the warm color of sunshine, summer and freshness.  It stimulates mental and physical activity, memory, cheerfulness and attention. Yellow is a color of dominance and does not occur for long periods of time in Nature. It has been proven that in large quantities such as painted wall sin a room yellow can make babies cry or cause inmates to start riots. Consider using it sparingly and not in permanent forms. Consider art work, fresh fruit, pillows, and furniture good strong elements to bring in a touch of this fresh and exciting color. This color can speed your metabolism- which is why it is often the color seen in signs for “fast food”.  It is great for any rooms that need to provoke stimulation and heavy thought processes such as kitchens and studies.

RED – the color of passion

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

The emotionally intense color red in North America positively evokes thoughts of joy, celebration, passion, lust, love and romance.  This color can fight with itself between representing rage and anger to willpower and courage.  It is North America’s second favorite color- the first being blue.  It can stimulate the appetite which is why many restaurant designers include red elements in their designs.  Red is the color most easily recognized by the human eye making it great for signage or standing out in a crowd.  When it comes to color theory in Interior Design and decorating red is your number one knock out!

Below I am showing the seductive and romantic side of red that added in small touches can make any space have a passionate vibrance.

CG Architect 2009 competition

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

The Architectural Visualization industry is the key to the new era of Interior Design. Allowing clients to see exactly what they are getting before it is built and allowing for open dialogue on changes, design features, lighting quality and many other aspects creates a tool for designers unlike ever seen before. With most clients not having a design or architecture background understanding the end product is always a battle. Hand sketches and renderings can evoke a feel, scale or quality but can easily be perceived differently by each viewer.
