These simple yet elegant tiles have been redesigned in a series of  shapes or “cells” in Copper, Stainless Steel, Raw steel, Brass and Titanium. Karim who is known for his simplistic, fun, colorful and “blob-like” forms named each of his simple cell shapes with names that represent movement and energy: infinit, karma, kink, kismet, ninja, ubiquity and flux. Pattern, grid and repetition have always fascinated Karim who obsesses over form and simplicity.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Karim a few years ago at the Interior Design show in Calgary as was impressed in how dedicated to his design concepts and philosophy he is and yet how down to earth and approachable he can be. Karim loves to spend time with design students to really enhance their experience and inspire their creativity. It would have been wonderful to be under his wing as an intern. The playfulness and yet thoughtfulness in his designs are very well balanced and show an effortless simplicity that offers fluidity and fun to everyday life.

Karim’s inspiration:“I am inspired by every project I have worked on, by every city I have traveled to, by every book I have read, by every art show I have seen, by every song I have heard, and by every smell, taste, sight, sound, and feeling.”  Karim has a diverse range of inspiring artists from Andy Warhol and David Bowie to film director Stanley Kubrick and designers Saarinen, Niemeyer and Noguchi.

Mixing solid color with dense pattern and and accent of white texture is a great way to play with depth and tactile qualities. Eclectic decor with texture

Eclectic home decor is about showcasing ones unique experiences, travels and individual tastes. Home accessories, lighting and furniture tell the story of ones character. Yellow is one of my favorite colors.  By pairing it with different colors, it can take on a thousand lives. It can be combined with orange, pink or turquoise to become a loud and vibrant palate!  Linked with black & white you can make a strong and crisp statement.  Cuddled between sky blue and pale green, it is the ideal palette for a baby shower. This season I am seeing a lot of yellow and grey mixed together.  It’s somewhat of an unlikely pairing, but is really attractive and especially beautiful for residential applications.  Grey is a great neutral backdrop that gives you the opportunity to change up your pop colors seasonally.

White Texture

Contemporary decor asks for the minimal in color but maximum in texture and form. Above are some great examples of high texture in pure white. Play with your home palette by contrasting smooth and shiny with matte and textured objects. From the floor to the ceiling you should be exploring texture. Nursery Furniture & Accessories

Every nursery should evoke a personality, a sense of calm and a lot of charm.  This stunning combination of baby furniture and accessories combine to make an enchanting and unisex nursery for any girl or boy. Powder blue is not just a color for boys as hits of floral, feminine details and satin bows can easily take a plane nursery from simple to elegant with both feminine and masculine undertones.

Then go online and find yourself a vinyl decal from a store like whatisblik.com where if you don’t find what you like  (try-rococo pop, ambition killed the cat, swan skins, anise or paisley) you can always submit a graphic or hand sketch to have customized just for you! Apply your applique and but out around the drawers and you are done!
